GETTING A READING — WHAT TO DO?

My clients have asked me on several occasions, "What do I do to prepare for my reading?" While that question can differ from person to person, listed below are the suggestions I provide to them:

It is important that you have a clear idea of the purpose you want to achieve during the session. In other words, what issue or issues are you looking for insight on? This should be done a few days prior to the reading, especially when you are seeing a medium. Make a date with your loved ones who have passed, to meet you at the time of the session. It opens the channel and formally invites them to participate.

I tell my clients to have two, and no more than five, questions that they might want further information on, or guidance. The questions should be designed with words such as: why, how, or what, at the beginning so that the answers will give an explanation and purpose. If you ask a question such as, "Should I take this job?" the answer will be a "yes" or "no" response. However, if you state, "What is my current state of employment going to teach me?" you will obtain insight about the subject.

Relax! Most people are a little nervous when going to see a reader. That is normal; although the more relaxed you are, the easier it is to hear, understand and assist in the energy flow. If you find it hard to relax prior to the session, then take a few minutes at the beginning to talk to the reader to help your nerves calm down.

Make sure your phone or any other electronic devises have been turned off. If the reading is over the phone, do not have distractions nearby such as children, friends or animals that can take your focus away from the reading.

Do not come to a reading on any mind-altering drugs such as alcohol, recreational drugs or stimulants. It can alter your vibration and negatively affect your reading. Prescription and over the counter medications are fine.

I ask my clients to respond when they recognize information or a symbol that their loved ones are showing me during their reading. If this symbol is important to their loved ones or to the message in some way, the departed will continue to show me the symbol repeatedly, until the client has acknowledged it. I encourage my clients to ask questions at any time. It is important that the client engages in the reading in some form, as it continues to keep energy flowing to obtain information. If a client is not responding within the reading, it is like riding a bike with one flat tire.

The highest and best good should be the intention set by your reader.

When going to a medium, you want to be receptive to receiving the messages and guidance that your deceased loved ones have come to share with you. I caution my clients that the person who comes forth to provide guidance in the reading, might not be the person you had thought it might be. If you always went to your dad for advice about a job, it might be your grandfather that comes in to speak about your career, as that might have been the career he had when he was living.

I also caution my clients about predetermining any signs that they might set in their mind concerning their loved ones. You might decide that, "If my mom talks about her ring I will believe it is my mom." This thought process might close your mind off to hearing all the other signs she is showing, indicating that she is present. It is important that a medium does provide significant information about your loved one for you to recognize the person.

It is the job of a spiritual medium to connect with your loved ones and spiritual guides, giving them a voice. The reading might not deal with the subject that you wanted to tackle, though it will be the areas your loved ones feel are currently the most important. If you have this mindset about the reading, your experience will be enlightening.

If, within 10 minutes of your session, you are uncomfortable, or nothing makes sense, you might politely ask the reader to end the session and refund your money. This is not a reflection on the reader or client; there are many things that can cause a lack of energy flow to the medium.

The reading should provide insights or affirmations in your present situation. Always remember that you have free will and choices. Take what works for you within the reading and discard the rest. It should feel like you experienced a dynamic session with someone who knows you well and has clear foresight to assist you forward.

Enjoy, participate, and have a good time at your next reading!
