Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat Center celebrates Yoga, Music, Art, Nature and Community with YogaFest 2014! The camping festival is held in the heart of the Pigeon River State Forest, near Vanderbilt. This year’s activities will run from Thursday, July 31 – Sunday, Aug. 3.
“YogaFest offers individuals of all backgrounds an opportunity to explore the universal truths and varying expressions of Yoga or “Unity” in beautiful surroundings,” said Linda Gabby, Chairperson of the Board of Directors. “The event has drawn a crowd of more than 300 participants in previous years and we expect it to grow.”
This four-day festival offers classes of all levels in yoga, movement, sound therapy, meditation and lifestyle workshops. Participants can book massages and other healing modalities offered by professionals from all around Michigan, partake in sustainability workshops, and delve deeper into their creative side with art programs.
Afternoons and evenings will present an opportunity to listen and dance to live kirtan music and uplifting electronic sounds from around the country. As a family affair, kid’s are invited to related activities in the “Jump-4-Joy Children’s Tent.” Local craft and food vendors will be available for the purchase of unique products and delicious vegetarian meals. The 800 acre property offers hiking trails, swimming in the Pigeon River and plenty of spots to relax at one’s leisure. This year the Weekend Pass includes three nights of wooded camping, access to all of the festivals events (indoors and outdoors), and parking.
Ashtar Kukuk, Event Manager, said, “We are expanding YogaFest’s direction and vision so the weekend has something for everyone — whether you are just trying Yoga for the first time or you are a long-time practitioner, this is an experience you don’t want to miss. Yoga is so much more than stretching and breathing. It’s about strengthening our global community and that’s what we want to share with you.”
