There can be multiple reasons why people don’t sleep at night. I think the most common is stress. If we are over-worrying or thinking, it can be hard to quiet the mind for rest. Stress effects our hormones, which can also effect our sleep. Some people have nightmares or reoccurring dreams of past lives that can cause a restless sleep.
Stones are very beneficial when used in dream time because we spend a lot of time in one area, like the bed, so the stones have a longer time period to effect us mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Crystals can also be programmed with affirmations and the intention of getting a good solid nights rest every night. One example might be, “I AM happy and grateful. I AM getting a full eight hours of solid rejuvenating sleep.”
In Louise L Hay’s book, “Heal Your Body, for Insomnia” she says, “Fear. Not trusting the process of life. Guilt.” The affirmation she recommends is, “I lovingly release the day and slip into peaceful sleep, knowing tomorrow will take care of itself.” To program your intentions into a crystal, hold the crystal in your hands while visualizing your intentions. For example, you would repeat the affirmation you’ve chosen to use, while seeing yourself getting a good nights rest. Continue visualizing and saying the affirmation for 10 to 15 minutes, and the crystal will be programmed with your intentions.
Here are some great stones that can help combat insomnia. You can also look for stones that can be linked to the lunar cycle, and therefore can help our natural circadian rhythm too, to find such stones have a look at Lunary Crystals or similar sites online. Amethyst’s calming violet energies turn our thoughts into deep understanding and tranquility. Amethyst also aids with astral traveling. Chrysoprase’s calming energies help quiet our ego which can cause us to not sleep if we are stressing, listening to the voices in our head. It also helps us to have a peaceful restful sleep. Hematite can be used in dream time for protection during astral travel; its powerful grounding energies also ground our excess thoughts to the earth.
Amethyst and Hematite can be used together placed in a pillowcase, to aid with nightmares; Chrysoprase does as well. Green Tourmaline helps quiet an over-active mind. Lepidolite has a high content of lithium, beneficial for de-stressing and depression; it also helps us accept that we are exactly where we are supposed to be right now. Sodalite stimulates the pineal gland and the third eye chakra, helping the astral body to prepare for travel. Sodalite also helps us understand why things are the way they are.
To use any of these stones during dream time you can place them in a pouch or an old sock inside your pillow case. You can also create a healing crystal array for under or on your bed. The crystal array will form a grid of calming energies to aid in a good nights rest. You will need three pieces each of amethyst and hematite, two pieces each of sodalite and lapis lazuli, and one piece of chrysoprase.
Place the three pieces of amethyst in a triangle with the apex pointing toward the head of your bed; this triangle should extend from your calves to above the top of your head. With the three pieces of hematite, place them in a downward pointing triangle, one on each side of your outer thigh and one below your feet so that the apex is pointing away from you. The bottom of the triangle will be in alignment with your biceps. Now, in the corners of your bed or on the outside of the Star of David, place the sodalite in the upper left and right corners, with the amethyst apex in-between the two pieces of sodalite.
Next, place the two pieces of lapis lazuli at the bottom hematite apex, on the bottom left and right corners of the bed on either side of the hematite apex. If the crystal array is going under a bed, the chrysoprase would go in the center. If the crystal array is on top of the bed, you can place the chrysoprase just above your head. Green tourmaline would also be a good stone to use above the head while sleeping.
Sleep is so important; we always have more clarity, focus and a feeling of being grounded after a good nights rest. Allow the stones to calm and quiet your mind while you sleep deeply and wake up rejuvenated. Have fun!
