What is Qigong? Qigong is a very ancient highly respected health practice going back over 3,000 years. It is pronounced “Chee-Gung” and is a method of accumulating “life force” energy (known as Chi) and vitality through a unique system of internal exercise that can focus the mind’s intent or silence its chatter. Without the energy skill of Qigong, Yoga and Tai Chi are void of their real intended purpose, forming your personal connection to the infinite energy of the universe. This is not something considered as “New Age.” One hundred million Chinese begin every day with Qigong exercises to improve their energy fields and their overall health. Nearly a billion Chinese are obsessed with the health benefits of Qigong. While most countries abandoned their traditional medicine systems in the modern era, the Chinese became even more convinced about Qigong’s effectiveness even as China’s civilization has modernized. Thousands of recent Chinese studies at top Chinese universities have verified that these ancient energy treatments, including acupuncture, really do work! By practicing Qigong methods, the exerciser can significantly improve their health and many may have their diseases (if any exist) go into “spontaneous remission.” As you advance in your skill, you will be able to emit your Chi energy to examine and help others in the remission of their illnesses as well. Through regular Qigong practice, you will likely feel happier, relaxed and generally more at peace with the world. Qigong is a combination of two ideas: “Qi” (pronounced chee), means air, breath of life, or vital energy that flows through all things in the universe. “Gong” (pronounced gung, as in lung) means the skill of working with, or cultivating, self-discipline and achievement. Qigong & Energy Healing are Becoming More Accepted Early in 2007 on Oprah Winfrey’s show and again even more recently on Good Morning America, Dr. Mehmet Oz appeared and discussed the physical & emotional health benefits of Qigong. In a prior Oprah show that had aired earlier in 2007, he made a declaration saying that the future of western medicine is “energy medicine” and brought in an acupuncturist and discussed other alternative healing methods. Later in 2008, Dr. Northrup, MD also discussed Qigong and its healing benefits. In trying to help an audience member with a specific problem she explained a very simple Qigong meditation technique and said: “So I want you to know that you can use your mind and your breath to energize” any part of your body. Even a recent episode of the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” featured an energy healer on the show and the Today show also did an entire series on alternative health practices in January 2008.Everyone should understand that all healing is “Self Healing”, which no doctor will deny. The fact is the human body is designed to heal and repair itself. Sometimes it just needs help to get the job done. Qigong healing enhances energy flow, repairs energy blockages and significantly increases the person’s available energy for self-healing similar to filling your car up with gas. Neither will function correctly without available energy. When people are ill and their own level of Chi is very low or stagnant, receiving emitted Chi from a highly proficient Qigong practitioner often proves to be a powerful stimulant aiding in their recovery. With proper Chi-flow restored and a full tank of gas (chi) provided by the Qigong healer, your body will do what it has always been designed to do, heal and repair itself. Energy healing methods simply catalyze the body’s natural powers of recover.
