Feel the morning meet your skin—soft, ancient, and wise.
The sun does not rush. Neither must you. Before emails, errands, and expectations… Before shaping yourself to be palatable or productive… Pause. Touch the altar of your breath. Return to the temple of your own being.
Surrender—not in defeat, but in reverence. To the Source that dreamed you into being. To the still voice within that says: “You are enough before you lift a finger.”
Let this sacred pause root you in truth: You are not here to be used but to be a radiant expression of the Divine as you. You are not here to carry the world but be carried by the Presence. Today, let surrender be your strength. May you carry the glow of this devotion into all you touch—Not burned out by demands, but lit from within.
Recently, while receiving acupuncture in Ann Arbor, the practitioner—a wise healer—shared something tender with me. With quiet vulnerability, she said,
“I’ve been in this field for over 20 years. I’ve studied, treated, helped so many people. But I just started a morning spiritual practice…, and I’m stunned by how much better I feel—physically, mentally, emotionally. I just… wasn’t ready until now.”
Her words were a humble confession and realization. I’ve noticed in helping hundreds of people over the past three decades, sometimes we have to give love before we are truly ready to receive. This is why I say: “receiving Love is courageous, not weak”. In receiving…we remember Who We Are. She was ready to “eat at the banquet” of her own Beingness.
Counseling many healers, mothers, therapists… I heard the Divine say through me (as me), many times, “It is time to receive all the Love, you have given out in the world”. Yet, this surrender, this embodying sacred pause, is very scary to the human ego. Becoming truly still and receptive to the genius and good, we have always been, means we must also meet the body/pain with radical compassion. Over-giving, and over accomplishing, are just survival patterns to avoid feeling. As such, to the degree we hold the paradox of being both the impermanence of our humanity (emotions, health issues, aging bodies) and omni-present divine—we will know God.
Resting in a worth beyond doing, we will know an unshakable peace.
How often we wait. We delay turning toward our own hearts, pausing into Being, and into that unshakable peace…until the pain is too much, the noise too loud. But Grace doesn’t keep score. And readiness isn’t a destination; it’s a moment of willingness to open…to receive.
A ray of light does not try to get back to the sun. It shines gently, softly, holding all the components of the sun. Remember you are the sun’s rays, mountains, cows, rivers and oceans. You are the soul of your family or those you seek to serve. Consciously surrendering and remembering) that Life/God/Nature seeks to express as you, life becomes more easeful. Instead of carrying the other’s troubles on your shoulders you are carried by Grace, Flow, Natural Law. Remember: Life/God is not happening “to you”, Life/God Itself seeks to support and express through, and AS YOU.
Many of you have heard me speak about the power of a morning sacred pause—just 20 minutes. Whether it’s sitting in stillness, listening to the breath, stretching with intention, or simply watching the light shift across the floor… what matters is the space. Because it’s in that space that the Divine can slip in.
The difference between what we call a “beginner” and someone “advanced” in spirituality is not some hierarchy of worth or wisdom—it’s simply practice. But let’s be honest: these labels are illusions. Each one of us is equally sacred, equally luminous—a ray of the Light. Some of us are living from that remembrance. And some of us are in the courageous, tender process of finding our way back.
It’s like a violin: if it’s out of tune, we don’t get angry at it—we gently tune it. In the same way, when someone is caught in violence, gossip, people-pleasing, racism, or homophobia, it’s not evidence of evil—it is evidence of a deep forgetting. Darkness is only the absence of information. A forgetting of our heart. A forgetting of our True Self, and therefore, of our belonging.
Do not take a stick and beat the darkness.
The Divine does not know our “problems”—not because it is indifferent, but because in the expanded consciousness of Oneness, there are no problems—only patterns of forgetting, and infinite streams of possibility. In the mind of God, in the field of Love, only solutions exist. Only wholeness. Only Light.
And you can live and move in that space.
When you remember that Life Itself—through Nature, through animals, through the ones you serve—is seeking to move through you, then life is no longer a battle or a burden. It becomes a listening. A deep listening to the rhythm of Grace, to the wisdom that pulses beneath appearances, to the sacred Flow that is always seeking to live as you.
In the stillness of non-doing, everything is done. In the sacred pause—in conscious surrender—you allow yourself to be held. Held not by your thoughts, but by the very Intelligence that births stars, the Compassion that weaves the trees, the Presence that breathes you even now.
“I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.” — Mother Teresa
This is not passivity. This is participation with Life at its highest frequency. And from that place, you don’t push the darkness out. Accepting our humanity, to allow divinity to move through us, is a courageous path of embodying the Light, rather than trying to “ascend” to it. There is no “escape hatch” into spiritual transcendence form your emotions, pains, and limitations of the body (as long as you are in a body). Yet in our deep receptive surrender, we remember that we are the Light. In accepting our limitations, we become unlimited. Through your inner work, you become a beneficial Presence, simply in Being the True You. Your broader Self, True Self, Authentic Self or Christ Self (names for the same thing), can NEVER be broken, made better– or lost. It waits your remembering.
We live in a culture that breathes in the trance of unworthiness, a collective spell that tells us we are separate, not enough, not lovable. Until we widen the circle of compassion toward ourselves, it is impossible to feel the pulse of Life/God/Nature breathing us, guiding us, loving us.
In the hypnosis of trying to find our worth through our accomplishments or reputation, we miss the radiance of our Being. We forget the sacredness that was never earned and can never be lost. And this forgetting? That is the source of our suffering. Someone or something can only steal your peace when you have forgotten Who You Are. But the good news—the luminous news—is that every moment holds the possibility of remembrance. When we remember our True Nature, we remember our interbeing: That we belong to each other.
Fear/emotions/trauma are our inner warning bell that we believe we are separate. Yet don’t pull the wire out of the warning bell. Pain/trauma/ struggles are the fertilizer to your becoming, if you are willing to Be-with, ask for help, and meet your humanity in that sacred pause. By boldly stopping the addictive rushing…you wake up to the fact that we are One.
“Before you surrender to the demands of others, surrender to the Giver of all life.” Maya Angelou
When you pass a mirror, be willing to see the light behind your eyes. Make this a “bathroom ritual”. Do not wait for something outside you to wake you up to the Truth of your being. This remembrance happens through self-compassion, your free will choice to wake up, and courageous reciprocity to Life Itself. When you let yourself receive Love/Life, you remember you are that Love…you are Abundance. You have everything you need, waiting to make-manifest into your sacred receptive YES to Life/God/Your True Self.
So let your holy pause, however small, be a doorway back.
A breath. A soft hand over your heart. These are sacred acts of return. Because you, beloved, are not broken.
You are becoming.
