Tools of Divination
By Laura Moody

“It’s a crutch,” she said to me. “You don’t need to do cards. Just use your own ability.” And so is the school of thought for some in the psychic community. Some readers use clear clairvoyance, others use cards or pendulums, numerology, or astrology. So which is better?

Before I was a professional psychic reader, I preferred a tarot reading. I found that it seemed to be more accurate. I did not understand that the person interpreting the cards was the key. I thought the cards were black and white and they said things. It was only when I started reading that I understood that tarot was just a tool. It was something that certain readers preferred to use as a way to communicate a reading.

Some readers like to use Runes. Runes are an ancient form of divination that started back with the Norseman between 796 – 1033. It was a form of casting to help in decisions regarding battles and energies. Palm Readings originated in India and was brought to the Western world by an Irishman named, William Warner. He studied under the gurus in India and achieved national acclaim, and had a wide clientele of celebrities such as Mark Twain and Thomas Edison.

Recently in the last 30 years, other forms of divination such as crystal balls, oracle cards, tea, and coffee readings, have resurfaced as ways to give a reading. Psychometry is also a way to give a reading. This form of reading has the medium or reader holding a personal object to get impressions and give a message to the client.

I personally like all these forms of readings. I find them fun and they assist the reader in following a course and direction in a reading. To me, they are roadmaps. They help us to get from one place to the next.

I also like a freeform reading without any tools. This type of reading is simply a group of thoughts and messages that come from spirit guides or those on the other side, or the reader’s intuition. So what type of reading is the best kind? I cannot answer that because it is the psychic who reads not the tool he or she uses. If you are looking to get a reading, let your inner self direct you in choosing a reader. Don’t get caught up on what tool the reader uses; one tool is not better than the other. Nor is a reader who uses a tool not as good as someone who uses no tools. It is just a preference, the way the reader learned how to read or give a message.

At the “Rock Your World Psychic & Holistic Shows” we have a variety of psychics, mediums, tarot readers, rune readers, palm readers, etc. They all have unique and gifted abilities. Some use tools, others do not. I encourage you to come to our shows and try some of the different types of readings with our gifted readers; you will not be disappointed.

For those looking to expand their intuition and learn, I will be teaching a 1-day workshop on Tarot.

The workshop will be held on January 4th in Livonia, at the Comfort Inn & Suites. This full-day workshop will teach you tarot and simple spreads to start reading cards. It also includes your own special tarot deck. For more information on the class go to www.readingsbylaura.net.

I hope to see you at one of our fairs! Come on by and get a tarot reading, palm, or a no-tool reading! I am sure you will love it!
