A Year In Review

By Susan deCaussin

Remember back in your school days? Didn’t it always seem like you learned the most from the hardest teachers? You never really appreciate them until years later, when you realize that they pushed you beyond your self-imposed limits. The lessons learned in those challenging moments are the greatest of all life lessons. The things that move you beyond what you had even considered possible provide the strength and confidence needed to face even greater challenges.

The year 2020 was a great teacher for many of us. However, it may be that you’re not distanced far enough from the experience to begin to reach the point of appreciating the lessons learned. But I can say that I’m feeling much more gratitude in my heart for so many aspects of my life that I regularly took for granted. And in the process, not only am I finding myself being more thankful for many of the same things as others, such as health, family, and time spent with good friends, but I’m finding deep gratitude for many other aspects of my life as well.

Everything you do repetitively becomes a part of your regular way of acting and believing. I know that with only 21 days of repeating the same thoughts or actions, you’ve made a permanent record in your subconscious mind that will affect your perspective on everything you experience from that point going forward. That pertains to your ability to achieve happiness, security, and so much more.

Thoughts are the most powerful form of energy on this planet! It’s through thought energy that you literally construct your world. We’re only just beginning to fully comprehend how what we think about affects the process of manifestation in life. While many people think about “things” when it comes to the process of manifestation, I’d like to shed some light on something different. I want to share how repetitively having positive thoughts will strengthen your ability to automatically gravitate toward more of the same in the future.

While society may lead us to believe that our happiness depends on things outside of us, nothing could be further from the truth. Many people have little to no possessions but live a full and satisfying life, pursuing everything they’re passionate about. Then some have millions of dollars and never feel like it’s enough. They can go through life continuously concerned over protecting their possessions and questioning the motives of those who befriend them. You see, a persons’ state of being is solely dependent upon their thoughts.

So, what do you think about when you look back at the past year and begin to move into 2021? Do you think about all of the ways that your life has been altered by world events, feeling deprived and victimized? Or do you find yourself with a newfound appreciation for those things that you were able to maintain throughout it all? The answer to those questions will lay the groundwork for what’s to come in this new year.

Simply put, your thought energy has a vibrational aspect to it that works like a magnet. Happy, loving, grateful, and optimistic thoughts vibrate at a high frequency. While thoughts of lack, blame, revenge, anger, and the like, vibrate at a low frequency. And, if you think of your thoughts as being magnetic, you’ll begin to see how holding thoughts of any kind will attract more of the same into your life. So, in terms of the manifestation process, negative thoughts will only end up attracting more of what you don’t want.

Sometimes it can be a real challenge to look beyond obvious hurdles in order to focus on the goodness in the moment, but I challenge you to do just that. Every situation, no matter what, always has some good to be found in it. It’s really just a matter of training yourself to find and focus on it.

Even when it’s difficult to determine the “good” in a challenging situation, it’s imperative to trust in the fact that every life event has been purposely orchestrated with Divine purpose. Sometimes we can become aware of that purpose in the midst of the challenging event. Sometimes it only becomes apparent after some time has passed, and the emotions related to that event have subsided. And sometimes, we must accept that we won’t truly understand the meaning or purpose of a life event until we’ve left our physical body and transitioned back to spirit. That’s when it becomes necessary to remind yourself of the lessons that surfaced following past challenges. Then, use that knowledge to fuel your faith because you are safe and trust that every life experience is for your benefit.

Life is, after all, a classroom. Don’t ever forget that. It’s those really tough teachers that produce the wisest students! We all learned many lessons through the calendar year of 2020, but each person has the opportunity to decide exactly how they will use that knowledge. Will you move forward feeling victimized by the circumstances of this past year, or will you decide to place your focus on those things that you have to be grateful for?

I will always remember 2020 as the year when we were all able to find a common connection with each other across the globe. Regardless of where in the world you live or how much financial wealth you may have, every single one of us dealt with the process of being locked down and the possibility of illness for ourselves and our loved ones. It highlighted our vulnerabilities and the importance of remaining connected in whatever way we could.

Let us never forget the important lessons learned and consciously decide to point our thought energy in the direction of gratitude while moving forward with a renewed sense of connectivity across the planet.

Our planet’s frequency is changing, and it’s causing old wounds to surface in many people. To move forward confidently into this new Earth, it’s necessary to release that old emotional baggage. If you, or someone you know, need help shifting to a higher vibration by adjusting thought patterns, Spiritual Guidance and Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions can assist in making that change. I’m always available for free consultations to determine what type of therapy is best for you.

I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year and hope that you’ll walk away from 2020 with a renewed sense of appreciation in your life. Namaste’ Susan
