Is stress taking the fun out of your life? You may not realize it but stress plays a large role in a great number of problems, both physical and mental. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is estimated that up to 90 percent of all illness and diseases are stress-related.

There are many ways stress can affect us. We all have different areas where we are most vulnerable and stress will affect these areas first. For some people it may be their neck, shoulders or back. Some people tend to eat more when they are experiencing stress. Some get headaches, anxiety, depression, heart disease and suffer strokes, it may also cause sleep problems. Stress can affect your concentration and memory. It can lead to gastrointestinal disorders and may cause pain. It can also contribute to health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Recently on the news there was story about how stress may be a contributing factor in dementia.

There are two kinds of stress, external and internal. External stress includes things like school, work, family, etc. Internal stress is caused by emotional pressures inside of us. This often comes from unresolved emotional issues from the past. These painful emotions from the past will, however, contribute to our overall stress. If we remove the stress from the past, (our internal stress) we will be able to deal with external stress in a much healthier way. The internal stress that we hold on to takes a lot of our energy. Thus by removing this internal stress, we have much more energy to deal with our everyday problems.

It is clear that stress must be taken seriously. So many problems can result from stress, especially prolonged stress, that it is essential we take appropriate action. The question is, how to deal with stress so that it does not cause any of the above mentioned problems? There are many things we can do to reduce the effects of stress on our bodies and our minds. Such things as physical activity, relaxation techniques, meditation, Yoga, and Tai Chi can all be helpful. In addition, it is helpful to get enough sleep, drink lots of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and eat a balanced diet. A lot of people have trouble sleeping when stressed out but there are a few tips that could help. Some tips include avoiding coffee in the evenings, taking out any junk that’s in your bedroom which creates a calm and tranquil space, and even introducing new plants to your bedroom too.

One of the best ways to reduce the negative effects of stress is with the use of hypnosis. Many peer review studies have now been conducted which attest to the fact that hypnosis is very effective for a wide variety of problems. Hypnosis can be very helpful in reducing the negative effects of stress on our bodies and our minds.

Hypnosis is extremely relaxing. This in itself is very helpful in counteracting the negative effects of stress. In addition, if you want to begin a new program such as exercise, hypnosis can help you stick to the new regime without giving up. Often people make a conscious decision to change, but the problem is that their subconscious was not involved in the new decision. Without involving the subconscious and relying on will power alone, you are not very likely to succeed. This is where hypnosis can be extremely helpful. Hypnosis bypasses the critical faculty of the brain, which means the positive messages can get into the subconscious part of the mind much more easily and rapidly. Once the subconscious accepts the new message, you are able to make the new plan a permanent part of your life. This is how one can make changes that will last.

Another helpful way you can overcome the effects of stress is by learning self-hypnosis. A qualified (certified) hypnotist can teach you an effective way to do self-hypnosis. Once you learn self-hypnosis you can use it whenever you feel the need to relax and calm down. It is even helpful for getting a good nights sleep. This will enable you to wake up refreshed and better able to deal with the stress of the day.

I hope you are beginning to realize that hypnosis can be extremely beneficial in many areas of your life, and especially for reducing and eliminating the problems that result from stress.
