Freedom has been sought since the beginning of time, but truly lasting and unhindered freedom is achievable only through connection with the Divine, when –– as Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi, taught –– soul and Spirit commune.

Brother Jayananda, a long-time monk of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF)—founded in 1920 by Sri Yogananda—will address this process of spiritual communing in a talk entitled “Meditation: The Journey to Spiritual Freedom.” This free public lecture will be held at the Auburn Hills Marriott Pontiac at Centerpoint (3600 Centerpoint Parkway, Pontiac), on Friday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m.

The lecture, which will include a guided meditation, is scheduled as part of a weekend-long event hosted by SRF. The evening will focus on the teachings of Sri Yogananda. Regarded as the father of Yoga in the West, Yogananda was one of the first spiritual teachers from India to introduce Westerners to the practice of yoga meditation. Through his books and writings, he has inspired millions all over the world.
