In a world where many are searching for connection, clarity, and wholeness, three Detroit women are lighting the way. Through food awareness, spiritual grounding, and a deep commitment to community, they are reminding us that transformation is possible—and that we don’t have to walk the journey alone.
1. FA: Finding Freedom Through Community
Every Tuesday, in the heart of the Palmer Park area, people gather at Detroit Unity Temple with a shared hope: freedom from the struggles that food can create in their lives. Through Food Addicts Anonymous (FA), they find more than a program—they find a path.
FA invites individuals to step into honesty, reflection, and spiritual support. It offers a sanctuary where people can reintroduce themselves to their own strength, discover a healthier relationship with food, and feel held by a community that understands their journey. Each meeting is a reminder that lasting change happens one choice, one moment, one supportive hand at a time.
2. Rev. Artelle: Nurturing Souls in the Hidden Gardens
Hidden Gardens, founded by Rev. Artelle, is not just a place—it is a spiritual atmosphere, a reminder that complete health and wholeness are our birthright. Rooted in intention and guided by the belief that wellness is sacred, Hidden Gardens invites people to rediscover the beauty of living in balance.
On the 4th Thursday of each month, Rev. Artelle gathers seekers on Zoom, offering wisdom on nourishing foods, peaceful living, conscious choices, and practical tools like home water filtration. Guest speakers often join in, enriching the space with insight and inspiration. These gatherings offer a moment to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with what makes us whole.
With each class, Hidden Gardens cultivates joy, strengthens community, and waters the seeds of awareness that grow into lifelong wellness.
