“GLOBAL SPIRIT”

NEW ‘INTERNAL TRAVEL’ TV SERIES DEBUTS JULY, 2012

ON PBS WORLD / PUBLIC TELEVISION STATIONS

“Global Spirit” is a truly amazing, one-of-a-kind television series. In the midst of such a profound time of social, cultural and political changes, it’s a series whose time has come.

Bill Moyers said:  “The discussions on the Global Spirit series are sorely needed in this dispirited and disenchanted world. In many ways, it is more important than journalism today.”

With religious misunderstandings at the root of many of our most violent wars over the past decades, it’s critically important that we citizens of the world begin to better understand each other and accept our differences as threads of humanity’s true, rich tapestry.

The “Global Spirit” series delves into essential human issues and explores perennial, human questions such as: Who are we? Why are we here? How does life fit together? What does it all mean?  This beautiful series, produced and directed by award-winning (Emmy, Peabody, DuPont-Columbia) film and TV veteran Stephen Olsson, brings to life many of the religious, spiritual and wisdom traditions of the world — Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Shamanism and other indigenous traditions – with gorgeous, immersive film footage shot in remote locations.

Presented by British actor and writer John Cleese (“Monty Python” fame), the series is hosted by Phil Cousineau, a seasoned travel leader, writer, teacher and storyteller, who weaves a compelling conversation in each episode with some of the world’s most highly esteemed leaders and practitioners of these traditions, including Deepak Chopra, Robert Thurman, Karen Armstrong, Peter Russell, Ravi Ravindra, Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, Brother David Steindl-Rast, Riane Eisler, and many more. Episode topics address essential human issues, such as The Spiritual Quest, Forgiveness and Healing, Music, Sound and the Sacred, The Journey Towards Oneness, Exploring Consciousness: East and West, The Mystical Experience and more, ten episodes in all.

“Global Spirit” is a harbinger of the emerging and expanding enlightened new genre of transformational media content that offers a shift in understanding and relationship with ourselves, each other and our world. For anyone interested in “the heartbeat of mankind,” in the richness and diversity of human experience, and in making a deeper understanding and peace with our brothers and sisters around the world, this is essential viewing.
