Love as Your Purpose

Are you fulfilling your life purpose? Why do you think that you are here, in this moment, in this now? Are you being the best you that you can be? Living your life to the fullest?

The start of the New Year is often considered like that of an old Jewish story that was given to me when my child was young:

“Do Better Now My Child” by anonymous. (If you know who wrote this, please let me know.)

He came to the desk with a quivering lip
His work was done.

Have you a new leaf teacher?
I’ve spoiled this one.

I took the leaf all soiled and blotted
And gave him a new one all unspotted.
Then into his tired eyes I smiled,

“Do better now my child.”

I came to the Throne with a trembling heart
The year was done.

Have you a new year for me dear Master?
I have spoiled this one.

He took the year all soiled and blotted,
And gave me a new one all unspotted.
Then into my tired heart he smiled,

“Do better now my child.”

This little story reminds me to keep going, keep becoming the best me possible. It reminds me in the rest of the year after January, when I start thinking I’ve “spoiled” this year, that every day can actually be a new, unspotted day. Even every minute can be a new, unspotted minute in which you can take a breath, a pause, and remember who you are, then act accordingly.

And, most of us by now realize that love is all there is, so you are love. Your true self is only love. Therefore, you can act from a place of love at any time, in any situation. Being love, in fact, is really your life purpose when you come right down to it. When you are not love and in the loving flow of the Creator, the Divine Universe, you are not fulfilling your purpose, not being the best you that you can be, and then, how can you be living life to the fullest? When you are not in love, being love, how can you be in the process of being the best you that you can be? How can you be in the process of self-actualization?

Of course, being love at all times, every moment, is a work in progress…. sometimes a seemingly painstakingly slow process. It requires you to be vigilant and in the moment, mindful in the best way you know how to be. And, mindfulness is an art that can be practiced, grown.

What would happen if every morning you woke up reminding yourself that you are love, that being love is your purpose? And then, what would happen if every hour you took the time to breathe, take that pause, and remember that your true self is love, and act accordingly… with love; treating yourself and everyone you come in contact with in a loving manner, from the heart? How do you think your life would change?

Just being means being in the moment connected with your true self. Your true self, your highest self is only love. Therefore, just being means being love. The Course in Miracles states that there is only love….

“Perfect love cast out fear.
If fear exists,
There is not perfect love.

But:

Only perfect love exists,
If there is fear,
It produces a state which does not exist.”

Therefore, as there is only love, you are it! You are Love! When you realize your purpose is love, being love, you can be guided by your inner emotions. When you feel love, calm, peace… you know, the “positive” feelings, chances are, you can act in, be love because you are connected with your true self. That way, when you are connected with and being love, you know your next “right” step. You allow yourself to be guided by your highest self, your divine self… your true self. You can’t go wrong when you are being love, especially when you know the whole universe has your back and you can act in loving confidence; knowing that your loving action is for your and other’s highest good and growth.

Being your best self, your loving self, is not always easy, yet being love as your purpose will ultimately get you to your actualized self, your true self, more and more, easier and easier. Every time you consciously connect with your highest self, your true, loving self, you create a pathway that makes the journey quicker and easier each and every time you mindfully connect, and act, from your true self, your loving self. By consciously choosing the path of your thoughts and emotions, connection with your divine self, you can be in constant unity with Divine Source, which is love and joy.

So how about it? Are you ready for the journey of your life? Practice love as your purpose. Practice being love in your job, at home, with friends, and even with those whom you don’t understand and think have wronged you; mindfully, intentionally connecting with and being love. Your life will have meaning, love and joy… and you’ll have the time of your life!
