Why Was the Universe Created?

We sometimes ask, “Why was this universe created?” We’re curious about why we are here. If we believe in a Divine being, we may also be confused about the Creator’s reason for creating this universe.

In the YouTube Q and A video, “Why Was the Universe Created? Sadhguru,” Sadhguru Vasudev points out that “Today modern science is proving to beyond a doubt that the whole existence is just one energy.”   At the same time “…religions of the world have been screaming for a long time that God is everywhere.” They are speaking of the same reality.

He reexamines the question of creation and says, “When it comes to creation, you never ask why, you as how.” He alludes to stories that explain creation and shows how they don’t really bring us any closer to reality. For “Stories will solace you. Stories will not liberate you. …So you must decide…are looking for solace, or are you looking for a solution?”

He gets to the heart of the matter when he suggests, “So first, let’s change the experience of life, then the right questions will come.” He responds to the man who has raised the question about why the universe was created, “Right now, the question is coming from the wrong perspective…because you are not asking this question with the right sense of depth.” He explains that questioner has not really known the pain of ignorance.  He says, “If you could not ask the question, if tears came to you when you thought about the question, then I would answer it in a completely different way, which is not verbal.

Sadhguru is intimating the depth of this question about man’s creation and existence. He insists that we seek answers through our own experience, through going within, and provides the tools to do that.
