VegMichigan SummerFest is Aug. 5 in Livonia
The free event offers meat-free fun for the whole family
ROYAL OAK, Mich., July 18, 2018 – Summertime, and the eatin’ is easy – and meatless, at the third annual VegMichigan SummerFest happening Sunday, Aug. 5 at Madonna University in Livonia.
The free, family-friendly event takes place from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and features a huge selection of tasty summertime eats such as burgers, ice cream, dogs, and shakes – all plant-based, or vegan, meaning free of animal products. Nearly 60 food trucks and vendors including Anna’s House, Ben & Jerry’s, the Clean Plate, D’Vine Cookies, the Nosh Pit, Shimmy Shack and Urge Raw Juice will tempt the taste buds. Attendees also can enjoy shopping for unique vegan items, playing sand volleyball, carnival games, a bouncy house and more while being entertained by the Hines Drive Band and the award-winning Sun Messengers.
“Vegan is a major eating trend, and SummerFest is the biggest vegan party of the summer,” says event chair and VegMichigan vice president Tom Progar. “It’s a great event to bring friends and family to and to see how tasty vegan foods can be.”
SummerFest is sponsored by Personalized Veterinary, Fresh Thyme Market, Zerbo’s Health Foods and Detroit’s iconic Old Shillelagh Irish pub, which will debut a new vegan menu.
Best known for hosting the annual VegFest each spring, VegMichigan is a nonprofit organization promoting awareness of the health, environmental and ethical benefits of a plant-based diet.
SummerFest takes place at Madonna University, 36600 Schoolcraft Rd. in Livonia. Admission and parking are free.
