Are You Concerned About Your Health?

It has been said that health is the greatest of human blessings. Mahatma Gandhi is quoted as saying,

“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.” It is obvious that good health is essential to having a happy life. But if you look at the number of people taking prescriptions or over the counter medicines and going to doctors and hospitals, it is apparent that a huge number of people are not truly healthy.

The question that comes to mind is why are so many people suffering from ill health? What is the cause of these ailments? There are obviously many opinions about this subject. However, consider this. How is it possible that some people have been able to cure themselves of severe illnesses, even cancer, by visualization or affirmations or even humor? Certainly your thinking is an extremely important factor in your health. We know that your thinking affects your mental health, but is it not likely that your thinking also affects your physical health?

Consider the following example. Let’s imagine that when you were growing up your father constantly beat you for unknown reasons. You may have concluded that you were a bad person because this continued to happen. When you grew up, that belief was still present. Now, however, it is likely buried in the subconscious. Since you believe you are an unworthy person, it is very possible that you would not take good care of yourself. You would not eat healthful foods, would not exercise, and would generally not attend to your health. As a result you are likely to develop some kind of illness.

Louise Hay, a best-selling author and healer has listed probable causes for various diseases. Some of the “probable causes” she lists for various ailments include fear, anger at self, guilt, feelings of inadequacy, denying your own power, lack of self-worth, self-hatred, refusal to change, lack of sweetness in life, deep hurts, etc. If she is correct, then many of our diseases do not occur mysteriously out of the blue; rather, they may be the result of the thoughts we are thinking.

A famous holy person named, Yogananda wrote a book called, Scientific Healing Affirmations. The whole point of the book is that people can heal their diseases by changing what they think or what they tell themselves. So perhaps, when you are looking to medicine to cure your illnesses, your are looking in the wrong place.

You have probably heard of the “placebo effect.” Placebos are pills whose ingredients have no curative value, and are often made of sugar. The people taking these pills do not know that they are taking sugar pills, and believe that these pills will help heal them. Often, because of this belief, the people actually do get better. It is not the pill that is healing the individual, it is their beliefs about the pills, i.e. their thoughts.

If the above is true, and you wish to be healthy, then what you need to do is deal with the thoughts that are making you ill. The problem is, however, that many of the thoughts or beliefs that are making people ill are not conscious. They are in the subconscious part of your mind, and you are not even aware of them. So you can see the problem. If you are not aware of the thoughts that are making you ill, how can you possibly change them?

One very effective way of changing these thoughts is through the use of hypnosis. Hypnosis is an excellent tool to help you get in touch with the unhealthy or irrational beliefs that are in the subconscious. Once you become aware of these thoughts or beliefs, you can then challenge or refute them, and replace them with much healthier thoughts and beliefs. Unless these unhealthy subconscious beliefs are dealt with, it is extremely difficult to change.

Whenever the conscious mind and the subconscious mind are in disagreement, the subconscious mind always wins. For example, if you consciously wanted to lose weight but subconsciously you believed the extra weight had some positive value, it would be practically impossible to lose the weight and keep it off. You need to find out what the subconscious beliefs are if you sincerely want to change. Hypnosis is a very effective means to help you do this.

Hypnosis is safe when done by a qualified and certified hypnotist. If you would like to find out more about hypnosis, please call Phil Rosenbaum at 248-688-6469.
