Why Don’t We Get Heart Cancer?

This question was not on my radar. That is until I met Dr. Eric LaMey, Chiropractor at Restorative Wellness Center in Ann Arbor. He posed the query during our conversation regarding Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field therapy (PEMF).

To explain the concept of PEMF, Dr. LaMey referred to the work of Dr. William Pawluk, Board Certified Family Physician and Holistic Health Practitioner and Former Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and University of Maryland.

During Dr. Pawluk’s much celebrated visit to the Dr. Oz show, he stated, “We are, after all, only as healthy as our cells. Imperceptible cell dysfunction that is not corrected early can lead to disease. Science has proven that our bodies actually project their own magnetic fields, and that all 70 trillion cells in the body communicate via electromagnetic frequencies. Nothing happens in the body without an electromagnetic exchange. When the electromagnetic activity of the body ceases, life ceases.”

In our bodies, healthy cells function above 70mV while diseased cells function below 20-40mV. Heart cells function at the highest voltage at 120mV; hence the opening question. The positive effect of electromagnetic frequencies on the health of the body is quite clear. PEMF operates similar to a cellular battery charger by increasing transmembrane potential, supercharging the mitochondria, increasing ATP, improving oxygenation, increasing blood flow and boosting pH by alkalizing the tissues.

Dr. LaMey first turned to PEMF therapy for his own health issues achieving impressive results not obtained with any other modality. Since immediate action speaks louder than a long explanation, he offered to ‘put me on the machine.’ The machine is a suitcase-sized unit with white cable attachments. Placed on the body wherever pain or illness resides, these cables emit the proper frequencies and intensity, restoring damaged cells to a normal, healthy state. In my case, I received a two-for-one. I had been experiencing lower back pain and stomach cramps so he placed the cables on my lower back. As we continued our conversation, I felt pulsing waves radiating from my back to my abdominal wall. It wasn’t painful or unpleasant, just unusual. The duration of this simple treatment was approximately 12 minutes.

The FDA has approved PEMF for non-union bone fractures, post-operative pain and swelling, brain cancer, depression and urinary incontinence to name a few. Dr. LaMey has found that when used in concert with chiropractic care, many patients report relief from chronic back pain, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, TMJ syndrome, knee pain and degeneration, hip pain, insomnia, neuropathy, diabetic ulcers, respiratory issues, depression, vertigo as well as symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue. Here is the big news: PEMF is considered one of the best therapeutic treatments for decreasing inflammation and detoxifying the body.

Incidentally, much to my delight, I realized on my drive home that both my stomach and back were symptom-free. Thanks, Dr. LaMey!
