If Fear and Anxiety are Holding You Back, Here is the Solution!

There was a wonderful book written back in the 80’s called, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. The author, Susan Jeffers, talks about how so many people want to try new things, accomplish goals, and take risks, but fear stops them from doing so. Jeffers explains that the only way to get over the fear is by actually taking the risk. For example, if you want to meet a new person, you are going to have to take the risk of initiating the conversation. The author is quite correct,: you need to take the risk and deal with the fear if your goal is to be achieved.

The problem is that you may, despite the very real desire to accomplish your goal or try something new, allow anxiety to stop you. Even if you realize that the only way to obtain your goal is to face your fear and do it anyway, the anxiety is too powerful and it holds you back. Rather than being in control of the anxiety, the anxiety is in control of you.

Fortunately, help exists. Some people, when faced with overwhelming fear, will seek the help of a therapist or counselor. Others may enlist the help of medications. Another effective option is the use of hypnosis. There are many ways hypnosis can help you overcome the debilitating effects of anxiety. With hypnosis, you can learn techniques to help you relax, and thus lessen the effects of the anxiety.

In addition, a certified hypnotist can teach you self-hypnosis. With this skill, you can then hypnotize yourself when dealing with an anxiety-provoking situation and help yourself calm down and relax. But perhaps one of the most important ways hypnosis can help is by allowing you to identify the subconscious beliefs which (without your conscious awareness) are causing you to experience this anxiety and paralyze you from doing what you want to do. Once these beliefs are identified, they can be disputed and shown to be no longer valid. When you realize there is no need to hold on to these outdated beliefs, you can then replace them with much more rational ideas. These early beliefs may have served you well when you were younger, but they are no longer helpful; in fact they are now causing a great deal of distress.

Let me give you an example of how a deeply embedded belief could be hurting you today. Many people got the message not to talk to strangers when they were growing up. This was, no doubt, good advice for young children. The problem is that as adults that belief is not helpful, and in fact can be quite damaging. If you wish to make new friends, succeed in business and expand your horizons, you need to change that belief and realize that strangers are potential friends. Unless you become aware that you are still operating on this outdated belief, you will continue to avoid people who could be enriching your life. A great deal of the anxiety you experience results from these unhealthy subconscious beliefs and messages.

The beauty of hypnosis is that you can get in touch with the subconscious part of the brain and find out what irrational beliefs are affecting you, and where they originated. They can then be disputed and shown to be no longer valid. The final step is to replace them with much healthier rational beliefs. This will free up a great deal of energy and relieve you of unnecessary anxiety.

If anxiety is a problem for you, or if it is stopping you from doing what you would like to be doing, please consider hypnosis. The subconscious remembers everything that has ever happened to you. Normally, it is very difficult to find out the negative beliefs that are still subconsciously influencing you. With hypnosis, however, it can easily be accomplished. You can find out what messages are in the subconscious that are sabotaging your life. A few short sessions of hypnosis could make an enormous difference in your life.
