Shedding the Weight; Body, Mind, Emotion
By Dave Krajovic

When we think of shedding weight, most think of shedding physical weight. But heaviness is more than physical. It can permeate every aspect of your life. Whenever you feel burdened, there is weight to be shed in the mind, the body and the emotions. These three are interconnected. Most people think that carrying burdens are a normal part of life, but some of us know this is not true. Now you know there is another possibility. Living a life filled with burdens is living a mundane life mired in chaos, drama and fear. None of this is necessary.

Emotional weight can be as detrimental to the body as physical weight, just as emotional abuse can be just as damaging as physical abuse. In fact, while physical injury can heal in days or weeks, emotional abuse can take years to heal, if at all. It can continue to poison relationships, denying joy to those who deserve it so much. How many times have we denied our joy by carrying the weight of past burdens into our relationships? Doing so prevents you from living full and present in the moment. You can never be truly joyful.

But you do not have to wait years to shed your burdens. Seize this day and make a different choice. Whatever burdens you are carrying, you can shed their weight. But you must acknowledge they exist. You must feel it to heal it! Emotions not felt cannot be healed. The burdens we carry take on the masks of depression, anxiety, fear, unworthiness and so on. Although these burdens pull us out of balance, they are also calling us back into balance if we are willing to listen.

Each burden has as its source a sense of lack. It could be a sense of unworthiness, a lack of self-love, or even a feeling of powerlessness. We hunger; we ache for that which we know we are missing. We feel that somehow this void can be filled by something outside of ourselves and so we eat more than we need, we work harder to make more money, we buy more things to satisfy our cravings, and we will even control and manipulate others to satisfy our emptiness. No matter how hard we work or how hard we try, the ache doesn’t seem to go away. In some cases, people resort to medications, narcotics and alcohol to numb the pain.

Since we know more effort does not satisfy, then perhaps we are looking in the wrong place. Instead of looking outside ourselves, why not look within for what we seek? I finally understood what real joy was when I decided to stop blaming others, claim my power and look within. You can do this too.

When you follow the path within, you will discover what you really hunger for. This is the key to shedding the weight of your burdens and ending your frustrations. No struggle is involved. We think it must be hard, that we must struggle or the result is not worth it. But if struggle worked, the battle would have ended long ago. Aren’t you tired of the struggle? Isn’t it time for a new way?

Surrender to who you think you are and discover what you really want and need. When you do, you will be fulfilled and the burdens you carry will be lifted from you. The incessant cravings you feel can now be met. You will discover they were never cravings at all but a yearning to discover the truth of who you really are.

The path within will lead to expanded awareness where real peace and fulfillment are found. Such a state, by definition, is less dense, lighter. Dissimilar energies cannot exist in the same time or space, so the heaviness has no choice but to be uplifted to a lighter, happier and more fulfilled state of consciousness.

Meditation and breathwork are key tools to the path within. Breathwork, along with meditation, can get you there faster and with less effort. The key to every change, to life, is through the breath.

The following affirmations can also help when introduced in your meditation as an object of attention. “I am completely fulfilled,” “I am perfect as I am,” “Everything I need can be found within,” “I am lightness itself.”
Even when used alone, these affirmations will begin to replace the heaviness with vitality, energy and joy. Repeat them many times throughout the day.

Your burdens have lifted. Rejoice! Your struggle has ended. Know that you have come home!
