Anxiety is Slowly Draining Life from Us and What You Can Do About It

Anxiety is on the rise in the United States, and it is slowly killing us. We are dying a slow death, and we don’t even know it. Anxiety shows up as nervousness, fear, apprehension and worry, but in its more severe manifestations, it can be diagnosed as PTSD, Panic Attacks, OCD and Phobias.

Anxiety affects how we feel and behave, can cause physical symptoms and limits our ability to have a healthy, happy and fulfilled life. It can result in dizziness, irregular heartbeat, back pain, restlessness, muscle tension, irritability, fatigue, worry, being overwhelmed and even disengagement from life.

This is a slow death and it’s not how we were meant to live. Our lives should be expanding into ever greater moments of joy and yet, we allow ourselves to be caught up in the drama of politics and the uncertainty of life. Just look at how divided and politicized our nation has become. Many are anxious and worried, yet politics is only one example.

Stress management, psychotherapy, and medication are often prescribed to help people cope. But we want to thrive not just cope. Our desire should be to live a life where external events and other people do not determine our happiness. To do this you need another source of happiness and that source is you.

Being anxious makes this hard, as anxiety binds you to the world. It keeps you from thriving and leaves you feeling small and powerless. It is a tactic of deflection designed by the ego to create fear. When you submit to the ego you submit your will to the desires of the physical body for safety and protection. These overpowering energies cause you to ignore the desires of the Soul. The Soul longs for freedom from the bondage of the egoic mind. Your choice for anxiety ignores these cries.

The key is self-awareness. Without self-awareness, nothing changes. When you are unaware of what you created, how can you expect change to happen?

Our true nature, our Divine nature, is joy. We must expand our awareness to have this experience. Me telling you that this is so will not help you; you must experience it for yourself. And what is stopping you are your thoughts about things. Thoughts affect how you feel and also create your experience. We must learn to become unattached to thought.

Mindfulness, meditation and breathwork are some of the most effective ways to do this. They not only help you remove the attachment of thought but by quieting the mind, they lead you inward to the experience of your true Self.

At this level of unbounded awareness, true power resides, as you are uplifted to a state of bliss. You behold the divine play of life and tap into the field from which everything in the universe emerges.

The shift to self-awareness creates an expanding wave of love that embraces everything, all things everywhere. You become a blessing to the world through not only everyone you meet but through your awakened consciousness. Consciousness changes everything. Remember, the elevated consciousness of one can offset the negative consciousness of thousands or even millions.

This is the power you command. We can uplift the world together and rid it of anxiety and other heavy energies. Together we can bring heaven to earth.

Please join Pat and I for our annual weekend retreat at the Inn at the Rustic Gate in Big Rapids, MI (Sept. 21-23; 734-416-5200). Together we will let go of stress and anxiety and reclaim our role as master creators of joy and peace. This is our rightful state of being. Namaste!
