Energy And A Bundle Of Nerves?

An interesting explanation of the definition of “Solar Plexus” is presented. “Solar” means having to do with the sun, and the sun is a supreme form of energy. The rays from the sun can be harnessed to power machinery. The energy from the sun sustains our very existence, for without it, we would not have food to eat nor air to breathe.

The meaning of “Plexus” refers to a network of parts or elements, in this case, meaning parts of the nervous system.

The solar plexus is located in the upper part of your abdomen. This encompasses the functioning of the digestive system, including the vital organs that initiate and facilitate digestion~ the stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, liver, adrenals, and kidneys. Therefore, the digestive system is intricately interwoven with the nervous system, and it can be understood that our emotions have a tremendous impact on our digestive health. In my experience as a natural digestive health practitioner, I have observed that in cases of digestive issues, there can almost always be a trauma or emotional upheaval that precedes the onset of the digestive stress. This is precisely what sets holistic health apart from allopathic, which is the recognition that emotional healing is equally important when addressing the physical manifestations of stress and dis ease within the body.

In the early 1800’s, Dr. William Beaumont was provided a unique opportunity to discover in great detail the digestive processes performed in the stomach by observing a wounded soldier. Among Dr. Beaumont’s significant studies, he learned that emotions tremendously affected the digestive process.

Today, we also look at the gut and the importance of having a healthy biome. Dysbiosis, or an imbalance in the gut flora, can contribute not only to an impaired immune system but also to mood disorders such as depression.

Ultimately, though, a healthy diet is imperative for emotional and physical well-being. When under emotional stress, it is even more important to maintain a balanced diet.
