Resistance to Exercise

Q: No matter how I try, I can’t stick to an exercise program.  Can hypnosis help?

A:  Several studies have supported the effectiveness of hypnosis in reducing exercise resistance. Research has shown that individuals who experience hypnosis report higher levels of motivation, greater enjoyment of physical activity, and more consistent exercise habits compared to those who don’t use hypnosis. Moreover, the benefits of hypnosis are not limited to beginners; even seasoned athletes have reported enhanced performance through the use of hypnosis.

During a hypnosis session, a trained hypnotherapist will guide you into a relaxed state and give positive suggestions and imagery related to exercise. For example, the therapist might suggest that you feel energized and enthusiastic about working out, making it feel more enjoyable and achievable. Over time, this can lead to increased motivation, reduced anxiety, and a more positive attitude towards physical activity. As a result, individuals are more likely to start and maintain a regular exercise routine, leading to improved physical health and well-being.

Most people already know how to exercise and may have paid quite a bit of money for a gym membership that they rarely use.  If resistance persists and they find that they keep making excuses, there may be subconscious reasons preventing them from achieving their goals.  Lack of motivation may be a much deeper issue than people realize.  Since hypnosis is the language of the subconscious mind, it is there that positive change and new behavior need to take place.  The repetition of listening to properly worded hypnosis recordings helps to create new neural pathways in the brain that reinforce the positive suggestions given.

If you are considering hypnosis for Exercise or Weight Loss, it is important to seek a qualified hypnotherapist.  The Clinical Hypnosis Professional Group (CHPG)  is a Directory of individuals who have maintained the Continuing Education Units or requirements to ensure top-notch services.
